Gasp

The Gasp series is inspired by a circus performance where a woman climbs a tall ladder and dives into a glass of water. Her images of the woman stuffed into the glass, on display, are unsettling, humorous and sensual. The work questions why we do hard things again and again, how we contort to conform, and how we make a spectacle of our own lives in search of praise. These works sometimes incorporate stained glass and wood cutout techniques where the colored glass reveals and conceals the image underneath.
